Mr. Rickman received such a huge influx of fan mail, that it shut down the mail room in the production office for a week. Obadiah Slope's first shows up in 'The Barchester Towers' one of the books that the Barchester Chronicles is based upon. In the series, Mr. Slope is summarily run off and humiliated.
